Graduate student Ayush Gupta presenting at the GCC Cellular and Molecular Biophysics Conference
This October and November have been a blast. We attended the annual meeting of CPRIT, the annual meeting of Welch, the annual meeting of AICHE, and we are finishing the Fall semester with the Molecular Biophysics Symposium of Gulf Coast Consortia!
Dr. Ashgar Sepehri is joining the lab as a postdoc member. Welcome, Ashgar!
Dr. Gül Zerze is a key researcher at the newly formed Welch Center for Advanced Bioactive Materials Crystallization at the University of Houston, established with a $5 million grant from The Welch Foundation.

Our wonderful graduate student organization (OChEGS) featured us (faculty) at their Career Day event! We had some future colleagues sitting in the room!
Dr. Zerze co-organized and hosted the 11th Annual Texas Soft Matter meeting at UH with Dr. Tim Chen from UH Mechanical Engineering. We hosted 120+ attendees, 60+ rapid talks, and 4 keynote speakers from academia and industry from Texas and nearby states. Check it out: http://txsoftmatter.chee.uh.edu/
We are storming! Our catalyst center for Advanced Bioactive Material Crystallization has been awarded $5,000,000 by the Welch Foundation! The center is just kicking off with the leadership of Jeff Rimer!
Ayush received the Society of Plastics Engineering UH Chapter Graduate Student Scholarship. Congrats, Ayush!
Dr. Zerze co-organized (together with Andrew Ferguson at UChicago and Amir Haji Akbari at Yale) a celebratory symposium in honor of the 70th birthday of her postdoc advisor, Prof. Pablo Debenedetti, at Princeton University this June. This three-day symposium was packed with scientific talks by 39 distinguished speakers in the field of statistical mechanics and thermodynamics https://pgd70.princeton.edu/speakers. And it was wonderful to get together with some old and gold friends!!
Ph.D. students Eduardo Ayala Medrano and Nehil Shreyash have joined the lab. Welcome, Eduardo and Nehil!
